CWS Spotlight
CWS Spotlight is a tool for Community Water Supply (CWS) staff to view SDWIS data, from multiple areas in SDWIS, on a single MiEHDWIS dashboard, giving staff a high level overview of the water supply’s SDWIS health in one place. CWS Spotlight displays critical and upcoming work related to sanitary surveys, violations, public notice, deficiencies, and compliance schedules. CWS Spotlight improves transparency of SDWIS data and gives users better visibility of easily missed work and data quality issues.

Filtering the Spotlight
The first time opening the CWS Spotlight, you will see real-time results for all active supplies in SDWIS. You can customize CWS Spotlight to display your preferred set (Default) of Districts (and Subdistricts) and Schedule Type. CWS Spotlight will remember the last set of filters you chose.
Using the Filter Icon
Click on the Filter icon () on the right, above the Open Compliance Schedules card to open the Spotlight Filter dialog.
Select a field, Districts or Schedule Type and begin typing to search the list. The fields are multi-select, so click on each option in the list that you want included in a single filter.
The Districts selections include districts and subdistricts. Selecting the higher level District (Ex: DISTRICT 1) allows you to make one selection to include results for all the subdistricts (DISTRICT 11, DISTRICT 12, DISTRICT 13, DISTRICT 14).
DISTRICT 1 District Filter search includes DISTRICT 11, DISTRICT 12, DISTRICT 13, DISTRICT 14 results. The Schedule Type selections include SDWIS Compliance Schedule Types and updates only the Open Compliance Schedules card. The fields support multi-selection.
Select Apply Filter to create a Custom Filter. The CWS Spotlight will updated to show the results that match your filter(s). The Customer Filter can be removed by clicking the next to the the Custom Filter chip at the top of the CWS Spotlight screen or by clicking the Filter icon again and updating the Spotlight Filter selections.
Click Set as My Default and the list will be filtered to match and the filter selections will become your default, so you can exclude Districts or Schedules Types you don’t oversee.
Setting your default filter is not required, it is just convenience if you have specific districts/subdistricts that you commonly use.
Using the Filter Bar
The text Filter bar can be used to further narrow down the items in the list of each card.
Examples: maybe you only care about things coming due in “2025” or maybe you only want to see “3A” Violation Types.
In the text Filter field, type in your filter criteria and then click enter on your keyboard or Filter button at the end of the text field. The list will update to show results that match the text filter.

Hovering over the Public Water Supply ID will display a small copy icon right beside the number. Clicking on that icon will copy the last seven digits to the clipboard. This is a convenience shortcut. MiEHDWIS cannot open SDWIS, but if you have SDWIS open, you can paste directly into the Water System No. search field of the Water System Search page.
Click on the Supply Name in the search results to open the Entity Overview for that water supply.
