CWS Spotlight
The Spotlight provides Community Water Supply (CWS) staff with an at-a-glance dashboard view of critical and upcoming work on sanitary surveys, violations, deficiencies, and compliance schedules. Transparency into SDWIS data gives users better visibility of easily missed work and data quality issues - making SDWIS more visible and more manageable.

CWS Spotlight located under Community WaterThe following five Spotlight cards will appear:
Priority Surveys: A list of priority Sanity Surveys that are due within the next 180 days.
Only pulls SNSV and L2SS visit types from SDWIS
>90 days late - Critical Priority - Red pill
1-90 days late - High Priority - Yellow pill
Next Visit Due within 90 days - Medium Priority - Blue pill
Open Deficiencies: A detailed list of unresolved deficiencies from SDWIS site visits.
Open Violations: A detailed list of unresolved SDWIS violations or violations that have not yet been returned to compliance and designated with a taken SOX enforcement action.
Pulls status codes of ‘P = Preliminary' and 'V = Validated’
Tier 1/2 Violations without Public Notice: A detailed list of violations without public notice in SDWIS or violations that have not yet been marked with a taken SIF enforcement action.
Open Compliance Schedules: A detailed list of unresolved Compliance Schedules in SDWIS.
The search results for each of the Spotlight cards are listed below the cards and under the text filter bar. To change the search results displayed, simply click on a different Spotlight card or the ellipsis menu (…) next to the currently chosen Spotlight name.
The ellipsis menu allows you to view the search results for the Spotlight card of your choosing.
Filtering the Spotlight
The first time opening the Spotlight, you will see real-time results for all active supplies in SDWIS. You can customize Spotlight to display your preferred set of districts/subdistricts. Spotlight will remember the last set of filters you chose.
Using the Filter Icon
Click on the Filter icon () on the right, above the Open Compliance Schedules card to open the Spotlight Filter dialog.
Begin typing to search the list of available filters and click on your choice to select it. Choose as many as you wish.
Click Set as My Default and the list will be filtered to match. The upper left will list your filters.
Setting your default filter is not required, it is just convenience if you have specific districts/subdistricts that you commonly use.
To create a custom filter, open the Spotlight Filter dialog again and click the to remove an existing filter. You may then add additional filters, as necessary. Click Apply Filter.
Using the Filter Bar
If you are looking for information on a specific supply, you can use the Filter bar to quickly access the information.
Search for the supply by either typing in part of the supply name or the PWS ID number
Additional Spotlight Features
Search results can be downloaded to open in Microsoft Excel by clicking the Export icon () located above the search results on the right.
Hovering over the Public Water Supply ID will display a small copy icon right beside the number. Clicking on that icon will copy the last seven digits to the clipboard. This is a convenience shortcut. MiEHDWIS cannot open SDWIS, but if you have SDWIS open, you can paste directly into the Water System No. search field of the Water System Search page.
Click on the Supply Name in the search results to open the Entity Overview for that water supply.
