The MiEHDWIS Team is excited to deliver the 15th major release of MiEHDWIS on Thursday, May 30, 2024. This release includes the largest set of features introduced in one release in the past two years. Beyond a continued focus to address usability, responsiveness, and bugs, this new release boasts some impressive functionality pertaining to the following:

  • Artifact (i.e., files, forms, and document) and activity dates, with the inclusion of a global submitted on date and set of tools for controlling and setting this date using workflow.

  • A re-envisioned Customer Portal experience with clearer visibility of historical activities; file archiving; a new welcome banner; a separate attachments card to distinguish EGLE attachments from other, external attachments; and a new notification banner.

  • The ability to assign external tasks to multiple users (contributors).

  • A new LHD Worker dashboard complete with the ability to manage office contacts, quickly access inspection activities and associated tasks, view messages in a standalone messages widget, and be presented with a new welcome widget.

  • More advanced control over visibility of activities and associated artifacts (i.e., files, forms, and documents) prior to being submitted to EGLE for review (a.k.a., Pre-Submitted Work).

  • The ability to print a dynamic form using your browser print functionality.

  • Implementation of address validation across all Program Areas when creating and editing entity addresses.

Address Validation (via SmartyStreets)

Now, when you create or edit an Entity’s address, Eddy’s integration with SmartyStreets will verify the address and give you the opportunity to accept the public, verified address or continue with your own address. This functionality is already available when adding/editing contacts in the system and is now being expanded to all Program Areas (Entity Edit/Add Screens).

Date Enhancements

Eddy received an overhaul to the concept of received date, which was used to denote when an activity or file/form/document was received from an external user. This date has been re-labeled to Submitted Date and the system received a top-to-bottom update to support searching for and administratively managing this new field. Eddy also received some new business logic that prevents erroneous Submitted On dates (i.e., no future dates).

Customer Portal Enhancements & Application Submissions

External users get a refreshed Customer Portal experience where it’s easier to create new activities; keep track of existing activities, including the ability to see if there are any outstanding tasks; the ability to see EGLE documents separate from externally uploaded documents; archive files to denote older versions of attachments; and the ability to view and edit contact information. Dynamic forms can now be printed using the user’s web browser print controls, allowing users to save copies of their electronic forms for offline reference.

Other features include the ability to create new entities to support the application processes for Campgrounds, Septage Haulers, Septage Waste Receiving Facilities, and the Swimming Pool Establishments.

LHD Dashboard

This release contains a new dashboard built exclusively for Local Health Department (LHD) Workers. This dashboard boasts some custom widgets for making LHD Office Contacts, the ability to view and filter based on associated inspection activities and tasks, the ability to quickly see when an inspection activity has outstanding tasks, and a new welcome widget.

Look and Feel (a.k.a., Responsiveness)

This release continued the work of making Eddy more responsive on smaller devices and with differing screen resolutions.

Pre-Submitted Work

One of the largest bodies of work in the release, Pre-Submitted Work refers to a set of features that separate external work from internal work and the ability for administrators to control when internal users can see work. Eddy System Administrators can now hide activities, including its files/forms/documents, from internal users until it has been officially submitted by the external user. Gone are the days of work in progress applications and needing to filter these out of your saved searches. The system will manage this visibility on your behalf.
