Release 3.0

We are excited to announce the next major release of MiEHDWIS (“Eddy”). Release 3.0, which will be implemented on July 22nd, 2021. This release delivers significant improvements to how non-State of Michigan users, like our Local Health Department (LHD) partners, interact with the services that DWEHD provides. This is all accomplished through a rich service-oriented experience through the new and improved Customer Portal.

In fact, many enhancements with this release aim at delivering more complex features that make it easier for users to request additional services from DWEHD and to submit more structured data to the division overall. The features of this release are described below in further detail.

Overall System Improvements

Dynamic Forms Administration

  • A rich form-build engine that gives system administrators and program staff the ability to build and configure their own digital forms and publish these forms, leveraging the MiEHDWIS Workflow engine, through the new Customer Portal.

Improved Customer Portal Experience

  • Non-State of Michigan users will have access to a new Customer Portal experience that puts business services at their fingertips. The ability to request training assistance, submit sample site plan information via a structured form, and upload general files will be among the first services provided through the portal in the July release. The portal also supports two-way communication with users via in-activity messaging, which allows you to communicate directly with a user through an activity in real-time.

Activity Contributors

  • This release introduces a new user concept, called Contributors. Contributors are essentially permissions that give users the ability to manage various aspects of an activity through the Customer Portal. For instance, external users can be assigned tasks to complete a form, upload a document, or transition to the next step in a process.

User Management and User Profile Enhancements

  • The system has been updated to support in-application methods of updating and editing your user profile and signature images. Administrative users can also link a user and contact record together to complete the lifecycle of a user’s contact and system access information.

Generated Document Enhancements

  • Users can now preview and edit their generated license, permit, and custom document templates directly in the MiEHDWIS system. Users interact with Eddy in-line directly in context with the document they are generating.

Workflow Configuration and Administration

  • Significant development effort went into building new workflow features that can be used to enhance existing activities in MiEHDWIS and to build new activities from scratch. These capabilities include the ability to auto-assign tasks, send notifications, control workflow transitions, requesting the user complete a form, and generating documents, such as licenses and permits. The Workflow Engine also supports parallel workflows (i.e., the ability to have multiple tracks in the same workflow that can occur at the same time) and task assignment based on a designated county association.

File Enhancements

  • The system now supports more information pertaining to file uploads, which allows you to track critical information when the file was received and processed.

Power BI

  • The system now supports embedded Power BI reports, available to internal users.

Community Water Supply

Online Submission of LCR, RTCR, and DBP Sample Site Plans

  • Leveraging the new Dynamic Forms Engine and enhanced Workflow Engine, Public Water Supplies will be able to enter their sample site plan information through an online form directly through the new Customer Portal. Data is captured in a structured manner and submitted to CWS staff for review.

Onsite Wastewater Management (OWM)

General Entity Management

  • This release implements the Onsite Wastewater Management (OWM) program in MiEHDWIS for the very first time, complete with the ability to manage general aspects of a Local Health Department.

New Activities for General Requests and Training Requests

  • Two activities and accompanying forms were created for OWM to support the intake of all those LHD requests for additional information and training for staff. LHD users will be able to interact with OWM staff through the Customer Portal, where official requests will be tracked and managed.

Septage

Content Manager (CM9) Integration

  • The system now supports foundational integration with the State’s enterprise document storage tool, Content Manager. For the July release, Septage users will be able to manually publish files from Eddy directly to CM9 and continue to view these files seamlessly through the Eddy interface.
