Completing a Swimming Pool Inspection Report (LHD Staff)
The Swimming Pool Inspection activity offers a range of inspection options.
Use this activity if you:
Need to complete an Inspection Form in MiEHDWIS.
Have completed an Inspection and need to submit it EGLE.
Need to log Corrective Actions Completed as the result of a follow-up inspection.
Need to mark the pool as closed for the season by the owner.
Need to mark the pool as permanently closed by the owner.
Navigate to the Open Inspection Activities card.
To find the inspection you’re looking for, click the Filter button or use the columns to sort.
You can filter by activity type. By selecting Swimming Pool Inspections, you will see only that specific type of inspection activity.
Assign or claim an inspection by selecting the person-icon in the right-hand column.
Search for activities in the Inspection Requested activity Status.
Inspection Requested status means that the inspections that haven’t been started yet.
Open the activity by clicking on the Activity ID hyperlink.
After selecting an activity, you will be directed to the activity page titled ACT-XXXXXX - 202X Inspection.
There are three routes for moving forward: 1) Begin Inspection, 2) Seasonal Closure, and 3) Permanent Closure.
If the pool is closed by the owner, an inspection is not required.
Select the route that corresponds with the Pool closure type.
Option 1 - Begin Inspection
Begin Inspection is for Annual inspections or logging a corrective action. If you are doing a seasonal closing inspection or a permanent closure inspection, please navigate to those options.
Select Begin Inspection.
Inspectors can either:
use the integrated inspection form and submit data directly to EGLE.
Upload a completed external form and submit to EGLE.
Review the provided Guidance.
When ready, navigate to Tasks and select Start Form.
This will bring you to a new page entitled Public Swimming Pool Inspection form.
Confirm the following information:
Inspection ID
Inspection Type
Swimming Pool ID number.
Please confirm that you are inspecting the correct pool that corresponds to that Swimming Pool number.
Select the Inspection Reporting Method used.
Upload an Inspection Report - If this route is selected, you will need to upload a scanned paper or digital inspection form after completing the form and supplying your recommendation of compliance Status.
Complete Inspection Questions Below- This route has all the required questions listed in the form, with your recommendation of compliance Status.
Report a Corrective Action - This route is selected to report the results of a follow-up inspection.
Complete the remaining questions in the inspection form.
Set the Inspection Status/Resolution and select Complete.
In Compliance (Approved) - No issues or concerns were identified, no compliance comments were included on the report, and no EGLE staff review is required.
A follow-up inspection activity is optional and can be initiated by the Inspector.
Select ‘Yes’ to the question, ‘Is a Follow-Up inspection needed?’
If no follow-up is needed, select ‘No’.
In Substantial Compliance (Approved or Approved with Conditions) - Only minor issues or concerns were identified, compliance comments are included on the report, and EGLE staff will review.
A follow-up inspection activity is optional and can be initiated by the Inspector.
Select ‘Yes’ to the question, ‘Is a Follow-Up inspection needed?’
If no follow-up is needed, select ‘No’.
Summary comments are required when an inspector selects In Substantial Compliance, even if a follow up isn’t required.
Not in Compliance (Not Approved)-Multiple minor issues or concerns, or one or more major issues or concerns were identified; compliance comments are included in the report, and EGLE staff will review.
A follow-up inspection is required and a follow-up activity is automatically generated.
Summary Comments are required.
Continued licensure and operation are not recommended.
Please note: If you need more time to complete the online form, select Save Draft and you can return at another time.
Upload an Inspection Report
If you selected Upload an Inspection Report in the Inspection Form on step 6, a new task will appear.
You will need to Upload the Inspection Report in the Inspection.
Scroll down to the Customer Attachments card.
Click on the Upload Attachments button.
Browse or drag the attachments to the upload modal.
Select Inspection Report from the File Type drop-down list and click the Save button.
Scroll back up to the Tasks card and click on the task box to check the task as complete.
If you selected Complete Inspection Questions Below in the Inspection Form on Step 6, you have the option to upload additional supporting documents.
If you have additional supporting documents.
Scroll down to the Customer Attachments card.
Click on the Upload Attachments button.
Browse or drag the attachments to the upload modal.
Select the type of file from the File Type drop-down list and click the Save button.
If changes are needed on the form, select Edit Form.
When Inspection in completed select Submit to EGLE.
For In Compliance inspections, the current Status of the activity will change to Approved. EGLE staff will be notified of its receipt. No changes can be made to the activity. If you need to submit changes, contact EGLE staff by email. |

For In Substantial Compliance and Not in Compliance inspections submitted, the current Status of the activity will change to In Review. EGLE staff will be notified of its receipt. Option 2 - Seasonal Closure
Click Seasonal Closure for an end of season closure.
Please note, if you selected Seasonal Closure on accident, please reach out either the Swimming Pool program staff at EGLE-DWEHD-PublicPoolProgram@Michigan.gov or the MiEHDWIS Help Desk. Be sure to include the activity number (ACT-XXXXXX).
This will change the status of the activity to Closed/Seasonal and close the activity.
Option 3 - Permanent Closure
Click Permanent Closure to signify the permanent closure of a swimming pool.
Please note, if you selected Permanent Closure on accident, please reach out either the Swimming Pool program staff at EGLE-DWEHD-PublicPoolProgram@Michigan.gov or the MiEHDWIS Help Desk. Be sure to include the activity number (ACT-XXXXXX).
This will change the status of the activity to Closed/Permanent and close the activity.
