How do I upload a swimming pool construction permit application?

Filling out the form and paying the fee

  1. Download the Swimming Pool Construction Permit Application Form.

  2. Complete the Application.

  3. Pay the application fee online through Pay Place. Print the receipt.

    1. Note: You must enter the correct code for the type of permit you are applying for in Pay Place. The codes are listed in the table below.

    2. Note: Spray Pad fee is based on tank area, not footprint of spray area, and are generally 500 sq ft or less. Pool replacements have the same fee as a new pool. There is no fee to renew or transfer a construction permit.

  4. Upload payment receipt, Application, and one (1) copy of digital plans through MiEHDWIS, following the instructions below.

Uploading to MiEHDWIS

  1. Click on My Work.

  2. Click Create Work Item.

  3. From the dropdown, select the Entity Type of Swimming Pools.

  4. Select the Submit a File.

  5. Type in the Entity Name or Entity ID to ensure that the file is connected to the correct Entity upon submission. Confirm that the Entity Name matches the Entity ID.

  6. Click Create.

  7. At this point, you will be taken to the Activity page and are assigned a unique Activity ID (ACT-XXXX).

  8. On this page, you may click Upload Attachment to upload files, use the Send Message tool to send a message to the appropriate DWEHD staff member, view the Status and Timeline, as well as complete any Tasks, if applicable.

  9. To upload the payment receipt, Application, and one(1) copy of digital plans, click Upload Attachment.

  10. Select the files to upload.

  11. Complete the information on the card.

  12. Click Submit to EGLE.
