Submitting a Permit Application

Yes. All permitting should be conducted through MiEHDWIS. The permit application, review process, and approval are all completed electronically. Go to Community Water Supply Construction Permits for additional information on permit submittals, supporting documents, and general MiEHDWIS links.

EGLE can see a permit application once it is submitted by a Certifier. Before that, it is not accessible to EGLE staff. The water system can still access and edit the activity while it is in this draft state.

Only an approved representative for a water system may officially apply for a permit. In MiEHDWIS, this is the Certifier. Other contributor types may prepare, edit, or view a permit activity, but the application can only be submitted by a Certifier. A permit application will not be reviewed by EGLE until a Certifier has submitted it.

How do I submit my activity using the PIN?

The application will be made available once a permit activity has been started. This application is what we refer to as a “dynamic form”. This means you will enter all the information in MiEHDWIS, and the application document can be revisited and revised until it is officially submitted to EGLE. A permit application in PDF is also available through Community Water Supply Construction Permits along with instructions for submittal.
