If you are planning on creating a new swimming pool establishment, you will want to create your new entity while using the Swimming Pool Construction Permit Application activity. This application process is for a single pool; if you are making modifications to multiple pools, you will need to complete a form for each pool. |
Create a new activity. This can be accomplished in one of two ways:
Using the Activity Menu on the user Dashboard
Selecting Create Activity in the left-hand menu.
Select the Swimming Pool Establishment Entity type.
Select Swimming Pool Construction Permit as the Activity type.
Locate your Entity.
For modifications on an entity you are currently a contributor to, select the establishment from the Your Swimming Pool Entities list.
If you are a construction contractor or an engineer submitting on behalf of the swimming pool establishment and the establishment doesn’t appear in your swimming pool establishment entities, you may need to search the Full Set of Swimming Pool Establishment entities.
For a new Swimming Pool Construction Permit, select Create a new Swimming Pool.

Select +Create.
This will take you to your Activity Overview page. On this page, your activity will be assigned a unique ID number (ACT-xxxxxx).
Please review the guidance at the top of the page.
When ready, select Start Form, located under Tasks.
This will open the construction permit application inside MiEHDWIS.
While completing the form, please be sure to:
Confirm the establishment information.
Provide billing information.
Complete the contacts information if you are a pool contractor or design engineer completing the application.
Review any existing pools.
Select the proposed construction type. Each type of construction will open additional information windows that need to be completed.
Modification - Changes that are made to a currently existing pool structure.
Select the pool that will be modified.
New Pool - The creation of a brand new pool in a location where a pool has not been before. When creating a new swimming pool establishment, this will be the activity and construction type you need to choose.
Replacement - This means you are removing or demolishing an existing pool and placing a new pool in the same location.
Select the pool that will be replaced.
Complete the required information for the proposed construction types.
Answer the following questions:
Do you plan to allow the preparation of food or beverages in the swimming pool enclosure, or consumption of food or beverages in the water of the public swimming pool according to Section 12526a of the Public Health Code?
If yes, please review the requirements for allowing food and drink in the pool area.
Additional information can be found in section 333.125126a of the Public Swimming Pool Rules.
Is this facility on municipal water?
If it is, add the Community Water Supply that supports the facility.
If not:
Assure that an established well has adequate capacity to serve the pool.
Assure that the proposed well has permits obtained from the local health department.
Is this facility on municipal sewer?
If yes, no action is needed.
If no, select the option that best describes your sewer system.
If you need to come back to complete your form, select Save Draft.
If you have completed your application, select Complete.
After completing the form, if you need to review the form, select the Edit Form button.
Review the updated Guidance at the top of the page.
Navigate to Customer Attachments and select Upload Attachments to attach the Construction Plans and any other needed documents.
When the needed documents are attached, mark the Upload Construction Plans task as complete, located under Tasks.
When you are ready, select Proceed to Payment.
The page will refresh, and the Fees card will appear.
It may take a few minutes for the system to process; please be patient during this process.
After the process has run, select the Invoice button if you would like to download your invoice.
When ready to make your payment, select the green Pay button.
This will navigate you to the EGLE PayPlace portal. This is a secure method of making online credit card payments to the state.
Complete your payment process.
Once you have completed your payment within EGLE’s PayPlace, you will be directed back to your Activity Page (ACT-XXXXXX).
When you are ready, select Submit to EGLE.
If you forget to submit to EGLE, the system will update within 48 hours and transition the activity for you.
Your application and payment have been submitted to EGLE. It will be reviewed by EGLE staff.
If you need to communicate with EGLE, please use the Messages card. This will become active after you have submitted to EGLE.
